I had two scope debridement surgeries done by a county hospital one in late April the other in August 2005... after the surgeries I did not receive any physical rehabilitation. 25 percent of my meniscus was removed. I still deal with chronic pain every day even several months later the pain level has only gone down from 110 percent to 75 percent, so I avoid standing to long with very little physical activity.  When I walk for several blocks I feel burning pain in both of my knees. I still have to ice my knees nightly and take aspirin and ibrophen daily to deaden the pain. I waited five years to have the surgery because I was broke and in graduate school. Will physical rehabilitation next month help or is it a waste of time. I was finally offered physical rehabilitation in late December, and I have not seen any county doctors since the second surgery which was in August. Will physical rehabilitaiton take away some of the pain, will I ever be able to get off the ibrophen. When I try to make it throughout the day without over the counter pain medications I feel awful. Even though it has been 3 months since the second scope surgery I still feel awful?
Any advice. I will also finally see a doctor again next month too.
Thank you.... from Liza in Los Angeles

Liza, physical rehabilitation is never too late. of course you can get better with having it now too. But take it easy and don't do too much in beginning. Maybe you still have pain becasue your muscles are to weak and you use too much of your knees when you walk. SO I would definately go for it.
Another good thing with going to pt is alos that they have ultrasound and other things which might help you ease the pain too.
Wish you good luck !!

And just to reiterate what Nettan mentioned, it's usually never too late to benefit from at least some appropriate physio for your condition - you can help protect injured joints and lessen the load on them by building up supporting muscles via physio. So, it might atleast be worth looking into contacting a physio and finding out if there are any exercises that might prove beneficial for your knee issue.
