Schedule Microfracture?
« on: September 08, 2005, 10:14:39 PM »
Hi,

I was wondering if anyone has had a scheduled Microfracture surgery?
I have been reading alot of the posts here and alot of the say
they had a surprise surgery.. Just wondering because my OS said
my next step with my knee is to replace the cartlide, but he didn't
say what kind of surgery, and I have been looking at all the
different surgeries to see what they are all about.. Any info
anyone could give would be great..
Thanks Brooke

Casey had a planned microfracture as well as her brother had one a week before or after. I know that most of us had surprises,,me, blackbelt, several others.

You need to ask your OS which surgery he has planned for you. Alot of insurance companies will not pay for the more expensive surgeries unless you have tried microfracture first. No matter which surgery you get, they all require a very long rehab.
good luck and keep us posted.

I agree with Missy,

I would ask your OS which surgery they had planned. My insurance would not cover the OATS proceedure until I had microfracture first. It failed of course because my lesion was too large for microfracture.

Best of luck to you
