1 month post-op---saw internal pix!
« on: October 01, 2005, 03:32:15 AM »
I went in for another post-op today--1 month since my surgery!   The Doc says I'm doing well, but he FINALLY sent me to PT--I've worried off & on that I was doing too much or not enough to keep my legs going.

My pain level is very minimal--if I have any--although I have those sharp pains that take your breath away now & then.  I just can't walk normally--mostly because I can't stretch out my right leg while standing (but I can when it is flat on the ground or bed).  And every great once in a while I feel like my knee is caving in or buckling beneath me.

The coolest thing today was seeing the pictures of inside my knee.  Guess some of you have had the pleasure of peering into your offending knee, but it was sooo cool to see the pretty smooth, shiny cartilidge on one side & then SEE the rough, nasty stuff where it was soo damaged.  Guess I'm more upbeat about the surgery now & looking forward to returning to a more normal life.

I've been cleared to do most of the exercising I used to do (but no running--boo hoo), so that has made me sooo much happier.  I even raked my whole yard today--and it's a BIG yard.

Hope I'm so upbeat after PT on Monday--we'll see.......Pamela

Wow - it sounds like you're doing great!  I wasn't allowed to do anything otheer than normal, every day walking, until 3+ months.  ANd then I eased into things.  Take it easy - you don't want to aggravate the knee while it's healing.  As to the pics - they are cool.  I actually have my surgery on video.  Which is proving useful, as I seek a 2nd opinion because the damage to my knee was so bad.  Now any doc can look at the inside of my knee without having to open me up. m Hopefully PT will resolve that issue with straightening the leg.  Good luck.

ACI was supposed to be 2/21/06.  On 6/29/06 Insurance co said have another scope, and if it still looks good, they'll ok the ACI.
