Elbows?
« on: February 09, 2003, 02:28:06 PM »
Hi Odd Bods,

I was wondering whether any of you have suffered problems with your elbows at all? I've had pain in both of mine for a while now, but this morning I managed to sublux my left elbow just by gently squeezing a tube of toothpaste! :o

It was really painful and I felt like I'd been shot or something. It went back in pretty easily, just rather painfully but is now feeling rather beaten up and sore and feeling a little sorry for itself too!  :-/

I'm starting to wonder if there is anything left that I haven't dislocated or subluxed now!  ::)

I'd love to hear whether anyone else here in the weirdo corner has similar elbow incidents or advice on the matter. Thanks guys  :)

With love.......Jo

My elbows sometimes clunk and then lock and I have to wiggles them so I can move them (either bend them or straighten them depending on how they lock, I assume this is a subluxation). I also think I have done it once or twice without the locking. Dont you just L O V E these Odd Bod Bodies. (Jo, I really recommend you join the CECA listserv as you should be able to get even more help there and people post and answer very quickly).
I asked them a question from my GP on Friday and have had like 3 emails and 4 posts back on it already  :o.
I am thinking of you Jo and hpoing that your body setles down and gives you a BREAK soon. (I a having another Echocardiogram) in March to check on my Heart again as my last one was 99 and I have been getting symptoms (ie. Palpitations, fast Heart beat, very hard heart beat (like it is going to blow out of my chest) a feeling of skippping a beat and the like), and as I do already have some minor heart trouble picked up on the last echo in 99 (trivial mitral valve regurgitation and increased peak flow across the aorta) and also because us connective tissue freaks  ;D are very prone to heart murmurs and mitral valve and other heart problems my GP wants it checked again (to see if I need to take precautionary antibiotics for so called dirty procedures (like dental work)). Good luck Jo, and stay well (or try) and here is hoping that your little ODD bod quits giving you such a HARD TIME and settles down quickly.

Thanks Shaz, I apprecaite your words of advice and comfort. I guess I should get used to my body pulling freaky surprises on me huh?! I don't thik you can get used to your bones being in completely the worng place though can you?  :-/

I will look into the CEDA thing, might be helpful in getting information - thanks again for that. What would I do without you mate!  ;)

I hope all goes well with your echo in March - I'm currently having mine reviewed by the geneticist now that they know about the connective tissue disorder. He wants to check out my aortic root size and mitral valce stuff etc and has suggested I have the echo repeated and further tests done in the specialist heart section in Newcastle too. Especially as like you I have been symptomatic of the cardiorespiratory complications having difficulty in breathing from time to time plus the palpatations, tachycardia, fluttering, pounding and catching that you described too. My GP thinks I am over reacting and has suggested I'm merely hyperventilating! This is the same guy that thought my incurable genetic disease was all in my head though...so you can imagine I'm taking a lot of faith in what he says!  ::)

Anyway, fingers crossed we will both pass with flying colours and any problems are minor and treatable! Thanks again for being a constant friend and source of comfort and support along this ever increasingly freaky path we're on Shaz.  :)

Take care............Jo

Hi Jo,
Yes I have elbow problems too!  It is my right elbow that is the one that causes problems, although both of them hyperextend.  My right elbow will lock on me if I pick up an object, and than try to put it down with just my right arm.  It only happens with objects around the weigth of 7lbs or heavier.  My elbow locks when I try to straighten my arm to put the object down.  It hurts a little bit, but is more annoying than painful.

Gotta love all of these wonderful problems...

(((hugs))) Jo and I hope you have some better days soon!  That body of yours has been TERRIBLE to you in the last few months.  If anyone deserves a break from it you do hun!
