Ruptured ACL. What brace to get before getting surgery?
« on: May 28, 2005, 12:47:18 PM »
I've recently found out my ACL was completely torn and I have to wait a few months before getting an ACL reconstruction.

Just wondering if anybody can suggest a good ACL knee brace??
Is Breg's X2k work well with ACL injury?

Thanx :)

Well they still arent sure if my ACL is torn or not, but they were pretty sure of it a couple months ago. I used to wear a donjoy brace but then had it switched to McDavis..both worked pretty well for me. Thiswould be a good question to ask your PT though. Goodluck!

Hi,

Seems that there are quite a few braces for you to choose from for ACL injuries.

Generation II 3DX

DonJoy Armor       Towsend Design Custom
  Breg X2K

Hope you find something that helps your get through until your surgery

Good luck,

Shade

Hi ~ I'm wearing a Townsend Design custom brace for a non-existent ACL which because of my age isn't going to be repaired. So I have to think that a custom brace of whatever design would be a must for someone in my position. I understand the cost of a custom one can be prohibitive if it's not covered by insurance. But I'm very pleased with this brace & what I can do when I'm wearing it... Ellie
April, 2005 - ACL rupture, medial meniscus tear within posterior horn to articular surface, abnormal signal within lateral meniscus, partial tear MCL, bone contusions tibia/fibula, Baker's cyst.
No repairs.
