Diagnostic Ultrasound

Still waiting to get a date for this thing :(  Was wondering what it was, how do they do it etc.  What kind of results can they get from it? Mine is for my tendon to see if damage has been done or something (not too sure, the dr wasnt too clear on her reasoning). Has anyone else had this done? Was it benifical?

diagnostic ultrasoud uses an apperatus similar to what they use on pregenant women but the head part they put on you is generally smaller. They put the cold jelly stuff on you and basically rub the head up and down the tendon area to see if it is intact, they may also get you to go through some slow movements while they check the tendon too. (I have had about 6 of these on my shoulder , never really shoed much in me, but then mine weren't tron etc just stretched).
Hope this helps.

I had an ultrasound on my knee/quad because my VMO was completely shut down. It is a completely painless procedure. You just lie on the bed with the lights turned low. The doctor watches the images on a computer screen (which I was really interested in, but he turned it away when he saw I was looking). I had to move my leg in certain positions. It's no big deal at all. They scheduled my ultrasound six weeks after I called, but my doctor's office called and got it moved up three weeks. Sure is frustrating to have to wait, isn't it?

Stacy:

Should be a piece of cake. Try not to worry about the  test. The hard part is waiting for the results!
