Types of TTT
« on: November 11, 2002, 04:36:51 PM »
Hey Guys,

I am just wondering about all the different types of TTT's out there.  Are some of them easier to recover from?  Do some of them have better success rates?  Are some of them easier for the OS to perform?

I just would have thought there would have been some type of standard.

My OS offered me a LR or an Elmslie Trilatt this summer (I opted to try the LR first), but since I don't seem to be better off then before my LR, my OS wants to discuss the TTT again.

Has anyone out there had this form of TTT?  How was it?

If I do get a TTT (Elmslie Trilatt) I was just wondering how it compared to the other TTT modes and if I would be doing the best thing.

Any comments?

Good luck everyone.

Thanks. ::)

Visit this site (I hope it works this time)

http://weelessorthoweb.be/oo1/510.htm
The different types of TTT are described shortly

If the page can't be found just visit the Wheeless'Textbook of Orthopaedics on www.orthoweb.be or type it in your search engine.

Hi AC,

For a good explanation on the different TTT procedures you schould read

http://www.patellapain.com/surgery.htm

This Whole site is very worthwile reading. De Surgeon R.Grelsamer wrote a book on "The Patella" and published quite a lot of articles on this subject. he is also member of an international Patellofemoral Studygroup.

AC,
The website they have suggested looking at is great.  I have been given the same suggestion.  Depending on the outcome of my bone scan it will depend on what procedure I have.  If I have lateral compression syndrome he is going to do the Fulkerson.  This moves the patella medially and elevates it.  If there is no compression syndrome then he will do the Elmlie Trillat procedure which just move the kneecap medially.  That is how I understood it.  Otherwise it is the same procedure.  Hope this helps.
