Curriculum Vitae of Mr (Dr) Jai Chitnavis


Background

Dr Jai Chitnavis is a Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon in Cambridge, UK. His elective practice is dedicated solely to knee surgery. He teaches and examines medical students and Orthopaedic Trainees rotating through Addenbrookes Hospital, Cambridge. Jai Chitnavis' private practice is based at The Hip and Knee Unit at the Cambridge Lea Hospital. He is actively involved in research into disorders of the knee.

Dr Chitnavis spent a year as Fellow in Knee Surgery and Sports Medicine to Dr Merv Cross in Sydney, Australia. During the Fellowship, he also worked as surgical assistant to Dr Leo Pinczewski, mastering techniques of ligament reconstruction. He was doctor to a rugby league team in Sydney.

Whilst undertaking his Specialist Registrar Rotation in Oxford, Jai Chitnavis completed a Master of Surgery Thesis which investigated the causes and presentation of severe osteoarthritis of the hip and knee.

Arthroscopic ('keyhole') Surgery
Arthroscopic menisectomy, chondroplasty, osteoplasty and synovectomy.
Arthroscopic anterior cruciate ligament reconstruction using hamstring or patella ligament, autograft or allograft.
Revision ligament reconstruction.
Open Knee Surgery
Total knee replacement, specialising in uncemented (hydroxyapatite-coated) design including the Active and Genesis Systems.
Unicompartmental replacement using the Oxford Knee.
Patello-femoral realignment.
Osteotomies around the knee.
Revision total knee replacement.
Trauma reconstruction of the knee.
