To live with RSD..is that possible...??

So there I were...just found out that I have RSD. For you how don't know RSD you can more or less say that is a neurological disorder. Simply say..you experience awful severe pain that shouldn't be there as the injury is healed. That idiot to OS told me that I had to live with this pain that I wanted to get rid of. Every second is a fight...I just want to die. I asked them to chop the leg off. NO that won't help is the answer. If pain had been the only problem. Along with the pain I have huge swelling in my entire left leg, can't wear any kind of shoes. The skin is very sensitive.

The Role of Medial Tubercle Transfer and Anteromedialization of the Tibial Tubercle for Patellofemoral Pain and Instability

Ergomaniac just gave me this link. It is a slideshow by Dr Anthony Schepsis  - just click through it using the 'Next' buttons or walk down the menu on the left of the slideshow.

Knee anatomy - the capsule

The joint space is enclosed by a water-tight fibrous casing, known as the capsule.

Scar Tissue Causing Nerve Entrapment and Compression

Scar tissue can be an insidious fiend.

I've been dealing with scar tissue/arthrofibrosis for 7 yrs. I've had it grow on just about every structure, in my knee. Among the many structures, scar tissue made it's way, to one of my nerves. The Infrapatellar Branch of the Saphenous nerve. This nerve is located anteromedially, very close to the MCL.

fractured patella/ motorbike accident

On Oct.13th whilst taking my CBT motorbike test i came off on an oil spill into a ditch, fracturing my patella, ( surgeon later told me it had exploded! ). After being opperated on that night, having a plate, screws and wires put in place, i was put in full leg plaster. Delee Osteotomy For Patella Baja/Infera and Infrapatellar Contracture Syndrome (IPCS)

"Patella baja and infrapatellar contracture syndrome are one of the worst conditions for a patient to have and for a physician to treat." These were the words of my first knee specialist doctor.

I was diagnosed with patella baja and infrapatellar contracture syndrome in July of 2001. This came 11 mos after my horseback riding accident, where I broke my tibia and fibula in 4 places. I developed arthrofibrosis of my knee, after the nailing procedure thru my knee, to repair the tibia fractures.

Time for Reflection

I sit here early in the am and wonder why life seems to push boundaries that one may not have. Life to me is my knee, sad but true. It's been almost a year since falling on my knee, and it's still not fixed. I know a year is nothing compared to many people who suffer from knee ailments of one type or the other. But to me, a year is way too long. As we grow older, a year taken away is a year lost.

Meniscal transplant - who will benefit?

Meniscus transplant is only twenty years old, and has become an established procedure only in the last five. However, meniscal transplant is NOT a cure-all and is not the answer for every patient suffering the long term consequences of total meniscectomy. For example, in patients where a previous total meniscectomy has left the joint damaged, with established painful arthritis and collapse of the joint space, the results coming in suggest that meniscal transplant is likely to be a waste of time and a waste of valuable donor material.

Lodging in Cincinnati

Finding lodging for out-of-town surgery can be very stressful. The amount of time you will be staying, expense, convenience, location and safe environment are all factors. We've stayed at a variety of hotels on our many trips to Cincinnati. With Dr Noyes office now located about 20 mins drive north of downtown Cincinnati, in the town of Montgomery, we prefer to stay near his office. Staying near the hospital for surgery is very inconvenient because your time there is very limited and all your rehab will be done at the office.
