Patellofemoral Jointspace Replacement.... or not
Submitted by DeGraff on October 30, 2007 - 1:45pm.The debate, for surgeons and patients, continues. Is it really better to do a partial knee replacement or jump right into a total knee replacement? And now, something new to add - the patellofemoral jointspace replacement. The three major areas of the knee can be replaced all at once, or individually. The choice must be based on an individual situation.
OS thinks I may be able to get away with OATS instead of allograft
Submitted by michelel on March 11, 2009 - 7:30pm.Well My OS called me back today and told me she has looked at the pics from my last scope and she thinks that if the defect hasnt increased in size too much she will be able to do the OATS instead of allograft. She will be doing a diagnostic scope somewhere between April 15 and 30, and if the defect is ok for OATS shes gonna go ahead and do it then, if it is too large shell close up and procede with arranging the allograft. She said if she does the OATS i will stay overnight in the hospital, will have a CPM machine and she is going to try and get a cryotherapy machine appro
How it all started
Submitted by kiddthekatt on November 17, 2007 - 6:23pm.I guess I should have given a bio on how this knee crap started. I played tennis all through jr high and high school. That court can tear your knees up, but when you are young, you don't think about the damage you are doing to your body. I would wake up at night with my legs cramping so badly I would cry half the night. As I got older and started my family, my knees settled down, or so I thought. I had a silent enemy that was working overtime, osteoarthrtis was going to town on my knees.
Patellar problems
Submitted by akam. on November 30, 2007 - 11:22pm.Here's a nice shiny new blog site for me to post about my ailing knees! I have been using livejournal for my blog posts, concerning everything (not just the knees) but at least now here is a place directly specific to my ongoing knee problems.
http://akam-i.livejournal.com/ is the place to go if you are interested in reading any of my previous entries. The recent ones are knee-related, to find other blogs on my knees you'd have to delve pretty far, so I will summarise here:
lateral mensicus trouble post operation
Submitted by nicholls on April 10, 2009 - 7:36am.hey me names dylan im 15 years old and having a problem with my surgically repaired lateral meniscus. I had the operation to repair the meniscus on october 22nd last year (its 10th April today) and still isnt 100%. I keep experiencing swelling in the knee and the back of the knee tightens up. It feels like my meniscus has been torn again but i havent done anything that vigorous for that to be so. I play rugby league but havent since the injury last year. I want to get back on the field and playing but these swellings and setbacks with my knee arent doing that much help.
