Steroids

In relation to the knee, there are two main groups of steroid - corticosteroids and anabolic steroids.

When a doctor talks about injecting the knee with steroid, he/she is referring to corticosteroid - used to suppress inflammation. Anabolic steroids are different, and are used by athletes to build up muscle bulk.
