Prof Sarbit Singh was trained in Paediatric Orthopaedics and Ilizarov techniques during his two year clinical fellowship in the world-famous Hospital for Sick Children in Toronto, Canada in 1991. He also has attended numerous training courses on Limb Lenghthening and Deformity correction in Lecco, Italy, Munich, Germany and Baltimore, USA. Dr Singh is one of the founding President(s) of the ASEAN-ASAMI. He has lectured, written and published numerous articles on the Ilizarov technique. He has travelled extensively to promote and teach this techniques in Asia. He has lectured in many courses and workshops in Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand, Philippines, Indonesia, Pakistan,India and Dubai. He has won many awards for development of limb lengthening techniques and published extensively on this topic. He has extensive surgical experience in Ilizarov techniques and Joint Replacement surgery. He is familiar with and uses the external, Lengthening-over-nail and intramedullary technique (Fitbone) for his patients. He has published several papers and written in book chapters for in basic science and clinical research.He currently serves as an Adjunct Professor to the SIM University. He also has special interest in Minimally invasive and computer navigation surgery for Joint Replacement surgery. He has performed more than 3500 knee and hip replacements and was involved in the design of new mobile-bearing knee for high flexion which is FDA approved. Which is becoming increasingly popular in the Asian patient lifestyle demands. He has wide experience in revision knee and hip surgery.He has conducted several workshops for Asian surgeons on Joint Replacement. Children Orthopaedics is one of his special skills and he has been a visiting consultant to the Dept of Paediatric Orthopaedics in KK Women and Children Hospital since its beginning in 1993 Prof. Sarbjit was the first surgeon in Asia to successfully implant Fitbone in 2001 and ISKD in 2006. He has the largest experience on Fitbone surgery outside Germany and was involved in the development of the Fitbone Technique(www.fitbone.de). He has many patients world-wide who seek treatment of his centre for Ilizarov and Firbone surgery. Currently ,he is the director for Centre of Advanced Orthopaedics: Limb Reconstruction and Lengthening in Mt. Elizabeth Hospital, Singapore. He has a great passion and desire to develop and teach the Asian countries in orthopaedic conditions.Professor Sarbjit was the founding member of the ASEAN ASAMI (www.asami-asean.org) and listed as was one one of the recommended top surgeons in Joint Replacement surgery by Planet Hospital(www.planethospital.com).
