Patellar alignment
The position of the kneecap relative to the groove in the underlying femur bone into which it slides when the knee is bent and straightened.
This alignment is affected by the tension on the soft tissue ‘stays’ on both sides of the kneecap, for example the lateral retinaculum and the lesser medial retinaculum.
