Opening-wedge osteotomy

An osteotomy is a surgical procedure where the bone is cut partly through and wedged open, in order to re-angle the bone. A bone graft and plate holds the wedge open.

This procedure is in contrast to a ‘closing-wedge’ osteotomy, where a wedge is removed to re-angle the bone.
