The Droitwich Knee Clinic is a specialist unit dealing only with knee problems. The four surgeons, three physiotherapists and the nurses work as a team in managing the clinic patients, and this makes for an intimate and friendly atmosphere. At all times during the patient's management, they have immediate access to the surgeon, and attend all the surgical case conferences, together with the surgeons, research staff and nurses.

The clinic itself is housed within the Droitwich Spa Hospital, although clinic and hospital are under separate ownership. Surgery is performed in the same building.

The hospital has about 44 beds and three operating theatres, with very good standards of nursing care. The MRI scanner is in an adjacent building. MRI scans may be ordered as part of the consultation process, and the scans are usually available to the surgeon soon afterwards.

The clinic nursing staff are very knowledgeable, and are concerned and friendly. They are happy to take phone calls to clarify aspects of treatment and rehabilitation.

Physiotherapy is integral to the treatment process at Droitwich. The physiotherapist is involved in all aspects of the patient's management - from possible diagnostic tests (like isokinetics), through conservative (non-surgical) management, to pre-operative exercising and post-operative rehabilitation.

The physiotherapy department is well-equipped and trained staff always on-hand.

Brine Pool Spa

The Droitwich Spa itself is also within the hospital building and is a quite unique facility - with highly concentrated natural salt water pumped into a pool from an underground sea under the town itself. The brine makes one completely buoyant and is a wonderful aid to rehabilitation after surgery.

The physiotherapists go into the brine pool with patients.

The Knee Foundation

Their separate academic charitable trust, The Knee Foundation, runs numerous training courses for medical professionals, including skills training in knee arthroscopic (keyhole) surgery.
