Microfracture
Microfracture is a surgical procedure where a tiny 'pick' is used to spike holes into damaged joint cartilage.
The idea is to promote bleeding and allow bone marrow cells to come to the surface of the damaged - these cells can change into fibrocartilage cells and heal the defect.
