Maquet procedure

The Maquet procedure is a surgical procedure to realign the patella (knee cap) to help relieve kneecap pain.
The patella attaches to the tibia bone an inch or so below its lower edge, at the lump of bone known as the tibial tubercle. In the Maquet procedure the tibial tubercle is prised up from the bone and brought forward (anteriorised) to bring the patella more anterior (forward).
