Ligament

A ligament is a fibrous restraint between two bones.

There are a number of ligaments in the knee, the most important of which include:

• the anterior and posterior cruciate ligaments
• the medial and lateral collateral ligaments
• the medial patellofemoral ligament
• the patellar tendon (technically a ligament)
