Tony Andrade qualified at the London Hospital Medical College in 1990, and was a house officer at the Royal London Hospital in Whitechapel, and Broomfield Hospital in Chelmsford. His basic and higher surgical training were in the Wessex region of the South of England, working in hospitals in Portsmouth, Isle of Wight, Southampton, Winchester, Basingstoke, Salisbury, Poole and Bournemouth.He was fellowship trained in hip and knee surgery at Sportsmed-SA in Adelaide, South Australia, and in trauma surgery at the Hennepin County Medical Center, Minneapolis, USA. Tony Andrade was Locum Consultant at The Royal Bournemouth Hospital and Poole HospitalNHS Trusts from March 2002 until he took up his substantive post at the Royal Berkshire Hospital NHS Trust in Reading in July 2002. He completed an MSc in Orthopaedic and Rehabilitation technology from the University of Dundee in 2004, with a dissertation on "The tensile properties of the Medial Patellofemoral Ligament".
