Clinical Experience and Expertise.
I am a Consultant Knee Surgeon based at Royal Orthopaedics Hospital Birmingham UK with some interest in Trauma at University Hospital Birmingham.
My basic Orthopaedic training was in hospitals in and around Birmingham. My senior specialist fellowship training in the management of trauma was at Queen’s Medical Centre, Nottingham. My specialist and senior registrar training in joint replacement, knee surgery and sports injury management was at The Avon Orthopaedic Centre, Bristol and Bristol Royal Infirmary.
I manage general trauma specially upper and lower limb injuries. My routine elective Orthopaedic practice involves partial and total joint replacement surgery. I have particular interest in arthroscopic meniscus and ligament reconstruction surgery.
I undertake trochleoplasty, a pioneering surgery to prevent repeated patellar dislocations. I also transplant artificially grown cartilage cells into the knee.
Medico-legal Expertise
I take instructions related to Orthopaedic injuries. I accept personal injury cases and medical negligence cases.
My defendant / claimant /joint ratio is approximately 40:40: 20
My normal report time is 21 working days and this is managed in 90% of cases. Full details of terms of engagement can be obtained from medico-legal secretary.
Research Experience
My thesis evaluates the polyethylene wear in unicompartmental knee replacement. MSc in Orthopaedic Engineering was awarded for this work.
My other thesis work assesses the clinical features of back pain in Lumbar canal stenosis patients. MS Orthopaedics was awarded for this work.
Teaching experience
I am a faculty member on the FRCS Orth. revision course organised by the University of Bristol and at the West Midlands Training Programme. I am involved in teaching medical students and junior doctors as well as well as training Specialist registrarsin Knee surgery.
