A response to a clinical test performed by the doctor, which gives an idea about diagnosis of the problem.

Doctors talk about 'symptoms' and 'signs' - Symptoms are what the patient complains of. Signs are 'elicited' by the doctor, when performing special tests. The patient may complain of knee instability (symptom) and the doctor may confirm laxit (sign) using the anterior drawer test.
