Non-steroidal anti-inflammatory

A non-steroidal anti-inflammatory is a medication to reduce inflammation, but which does not contain steroids (cortisone products).

There are three main groups:

  • Ibuprofen Group (eg Advil, Motrin, Nuprin)
  • Naproxen Group (eg Aleve, Naprosyn, Anaprox, Naprelan)
  • COX-2 inhibitors (eg prescription brand Celebrex)
