Ligamentisation is the process by which a graft rebuilds its structure to resemble the native ligament.

In the knee this process is of particular significance during the period after a cruciate ligament reconstruction, when the graft material (which has no blood supply any more) becomes gradually replaced by living cells. Until the new material is strong, the graft is vulnerable.
