Health Professions Council

The Health Professions Council (HPC) is an independent, UK-wide health regulator for thirteen different professions including physiotherapy.

The Health Professions Council are a UK regulator and their job is to protect the health and wellbeing of people who use the services of the health professionals registered with them. At the moment, the HPC register members of 13 professions. They only register people who meet the HPC standards for their professional skills, behaviour and health.

The professions that the HPC currently regulate include:

  • Chiropodists/podiatrists
  • Occupational therapists
  • Operating department practitioners
  • Paramedics
  • Physiotherapists
  • Prosthetists & orthotists
  • Radiographers
