Biodex is a trade name for a particular 'isokinetic' machine used both to measure knee function and for knee rehabilitation.
Isokinetic exercise
An isokinetic machine is a piece of equipment (usually computerised and expensive) which allows muscles to be exercised at a constant speed. This offers special benefits in knee rehabilitation as it is the fastest way to gain muscle strength. Of particular relevance is the ability to train the limb in the 'eccentric' mode.
