Iliotibial band
The iliotibial band is a thickened and strong tendinous strap which runs down the side of the thigh and attaches the the outer side of the tibia.
At its upper part the gluteal (buttock) muscles attach to it as well as the tensor fascia lata muscle, while at the lower end the adductor muscles of the knee attach to it.
