Hyperextension injury
Injury from excessive hyperextension (knee bending backwards).
In an hyperextension injury the forcible backward bending can cause damage to a number of structures -
- the bones (contusion) (ie bruising)
- one or both cruciate ligaments
- the fat pad
- the popliteus tendon
- the meniscus
