Cortisone injection

Injections of 'cortisone' may be given into the knee joint and inflamed areas of the knee to quieten inflammation.

The drug is better termed 'corticosteroid'. Generally a long-acting local anaesthetic is given at the same time to reduce any discomfort of the injection and because the corticosteroid may produced early discomfort.
