lateral mensicus trouble post operation
Submitted by nicholls on April 10, 2009 - 7:36am.hey me names dylan im 15 years old and having a problem with my surgically repaired lateral meniscus. I had the operation to repair the meniscus on october 22nd last year (its 10th April today) and still isnt 100%. I keep experiencing swelling in the knee and the back of the knee tightens up. It feels like my meniscus has been torn again but i havent done anything that vigorous for that to be so. I play rugby league but havent since the injury last year. I want to get back on the field and playing but these swellings and setbacks with my knee arent doing that much help.
ROM Rt. Knee
Submitted by pam30 on April 3, 2009 - 7:11pm.Hi everyone,
I'm new to knee guru but have been reading everything here now for months. Its nice to read about others who know how it feels to be injured and how we all deal with it.
I was in a horrible car accident in November 08, a young man text messaging hit me head on and as a result I had bilateral open fractures both patellas , Ruptured the rt patella ligament completely, shattered my Rt. heel and ankle, and fx c6 in my neck with an occipital space fracture. I spent the next month in the hospital for multiple surgeries and rehab.
Sleepless, in North Carolina
Submitted by michelel on March 22, 2009 - 7:53am.Ok lets try this again, just lost everything I was writing somehow. Its 247am and I cant freaking sleep for nothing. My knee hurts so bad, I just took another norco, and its not working. Man I cant wait til April 20 to get this OATS done. I know I will be in post op pain but at least I know there will be light at the end of the tunnel. My surgeon is confident that this proceedure will help me. I really hope so, believe me I've done alot of research on it and thank God for kneegeeks.
Work
Submitted by michelel on March 17, 2009 - 9:34pm.Well I usually work third shift at a hospital for the mentally ill. Yesterday I had to work first and OMG. My knee was and is still freaking killing me. I mean it always hurts, but wow. I go back to the OS Thursday, she is suppose to tell me when my surgery will be. I can hardly wait. THe prospect of finally being to live my life and be painfree is absoluteley euphoric to me. Well short and sweet. Had to vent.

OS thinks I may be able to get away with OATS instead of allograft
Submitted by michelel on March 11, 2009 - 7:30pm.Well My OS called me back today and told me she has looked at the pics from my last scope and she thinks that if the defect hasnt increased in size too much she will be able to do the OATS instead of allograft. She will be doing a diagnostic scope somewhere between April 15 and 30, and if the defect is ok for OATS shes gonna go ahead and do it then, if it is too large shell close up and procede with arranging the allograft. She said if she does the OATS i will stay overnight in the hospital, will have a CPM machine and she is going to try and get a cryotherapy machine appro
