Doing great...still wish it was 72 degrees and dry...

I am doing so much better and I feel like Im on the uphill of this thing......its getting better all the time...continually.  Its just the little things I notice.  I can do stairs without much problems at all.  My knee feels natural (as weird as that sounds, after all its attached to my body) and more like before all this stuff started last June.  I think Im finally over the hump.  After the weather clears up Im going to attempt to ride a bike for the first time.  Dont get me wrong, I still have arthritis, still have about a 1/4lb of titanium in my leg, ROM is

Doing ok

Been doing ok.  Not in PT yet but I think Im doing ok when you look at the big picture.  Im off all walking aids, dont wear a brace unless I HAVE to (which is rare) and walking relatively normal.  When Im on my feet most of the day Im still having severe swellling problems.  Dont even ask about the weather OMG.  It was raining a couple days in a row.  I cant describe the bone pain and how swollen it really was.  I told my aunt I have a mellon for a knee and a softball for an ankle.   Matter of fact that night when I looked at it from mid shin dow

Frustrations...

Getting better somewhat

Well tomrorow will be 5 wks and I think Im doing ok with my knee anyway.  There seems to be persistant swelling that just will not go down no matter what I try and the joint seems to be tight with fluid but Im not in much pain at all, more of just achyness.  I took off the immobilizer the 7th of Jan and Ive been walking ok.  It feels like Im trying to walk on jello but I can hold my own.  My back however is not doing well at all.  I normally dont have back pain but once a year or every other year.  Well this time it had come at one of the worst times right

3 weeks and 2 days since surgery, a vaccation in the mean time.....

Well doing good.  Im walking on my own inside the house.  I dont have that much confidence on it but its getting there.  Im still using a cane outside the house and using a scooter if I have to walk alot or its a big place were at.  Anyway went on a road vaccation from TX to AL.  It went ok, I thought it was going to be worse though to say the truth.  Pain meds kept me going just fine.  The ride back was a little too much excitement.  I had a bad case of food poisoning.  We had to stop at the local ER and they kept me for about four hou

POD 4

So far so good.  Its a little bit of a challenge to get around but I think Im doing ok.  Learned a new lesson, when a doc says to take a certain pain medication for 2 weeks, dont stop it only 4 days post op.  I was hurting so bad but took it and pain went back under control.  I can attempt now to do a SLR but the leg still isnt straight like I still cant fully extend it and its still very very painful.  This is going to be a long drawn out recovery/rehab so I shoudnt expect things to happen overnight.  I decided to change the dressings today, the wound looked o

Post op day 2

Well had the surgery Mon morning around 1000 or so.  Had to be there at 0700.  It was 2 hrs long, they put two wires and a screw to peice it back together.  It was definately a displaced transverse fx, he said Im only the second person hes seen in the literature thats had this happen after patellar realignment surgery (the HTO/MPFL recon).  I had another femoral plexus and sciatic block, they also gave me a general so they had to intubate me.  I love when they do the block because it works so good but when it comes off its a nightmare.   Especially when th
